Eminem's most thrilling moments this year were often delivered in small doses: His verses on 50 Cent's "Psycho," Drake's "Forever," and Alchemist's "Chemical Warfare" are all dazzling displays of pure skill. On solo tracks like the detestable "Taking My Ball," though, Em tried, and ultimately failed, to camouflage his slapdash, content-free rhymes with gallingly loud hooks and beyond-creepy one-liners about performing sex acts with children's toys. "Elevator" isn't much of an improvement: The formulaic talking points, nondescript beat, and strained hook are almost enough to overshadow his typically dynamic flow.
