When it booked the musical act for its season finale, Saturday Night Live thought it was getting an Eminem performance. In the time since then, though, it became clear that this had turned into Lil Wayne's night. Just a few weeks out of prison and this dude is right back where he left off: dominating rap blogs with another sure-to-be-number-one hit. There's something a little disorienting about seeing Em and Weezy rap below Christmas lights and in front of a live band, but over the years these two have got their performances down pat. They did not disappoint.
The two came out together to duet on "No Love" (above) and then allowed each other to own the stage with Eminem's "Won't Back Down" and Wayne's "6'7"." As big a deal as "6'7"" may have been on music blogs, I doubt most viewers had heard the single before, seeing as it dropped just a few days before this show. Since this performance was still somewhat of a reintroduction, Weezy lets us know that he's back loud and clear. As if we needed a reminder.
that was the shiiizzzznit
