Elzhi, MC ADaD: "Verbal Intercourse Pt. 2.2"

If you, too, were salivating over the news earlier this year that Detroit indie-rap great Elzhi was finally dropping ELmatic this spring, then you probably heard his pre-release leak, "Verbal Intercourse Pt. 2." It was the rapper's way to take his middle fingers and promptly thrust them upwards toward the music industry. The track also served as a means of making us aware of what he had in store on ELmatic, which dropped last month and serves as his ode to Nas' Illmatic.

And even though Chicago's MC ADaD could have just grabbed one of the proper tracks on the mixtape and likely torn it to pieces lyrically, he instead opted to update "Verbal Intercourse Pt. 2." He tacked a verse onto the second half of the track and, like Elzhi, outlines the importance of staying independent. In particularly, he sets his sights on shady record deals. He raps "if you take a field/ you's a n**** in the field" before adding "anything but independence is a fresh death sentence 'til you get the proper leverage to get to your goal." Damn.
