Things were different from like-minded producers Eliot Lipp and Jasia 10 back when they were middle schoolers in Tacoma, Wash. At that time, they lived so close to each other that they would continually run into one another at a record store in their hometown. Realizing they had a shared interest in music, they started recording together.
Their joint album, How We Do: Moves Made, is the culmination of those years spent tinkering on electronics and laptops alongside one another. Even though they now reside on opposite ends of the country -- Lipp in New York and Jasia in Washington -- they only record when they're actually side by side, which adds even more strength to their collaborations.
You can hear their influence on one another especially in album highlight "Genesis," which now has some complementary, spaced-out visuals to accompany the sonic galactic journey. While the introductory text might lead you to think this is a video game-inspired video, it's actually more like a computer-generated trip through history. In other words, a whole hell of a lot happens in the video's brief running time of less than two and a half minutes, with the same going for the track itself. You catch bursts of bright keys, head-nodding drums, and sudden slaps of synthesizers, all of which suit the animated visuals perfectly.
Watch the video below. It was directed by Tariq Abdus-Sabur Eliot Lipp. How We Do: Moves Made is out now on Old Tacoma Records.
