Whether or not you like Elbow, the pretty straightforward yet pretty impressive British (indie?) rock act, we suggest checking out the above mini-documentary. Produced by BBC 4, where it aired last week, it’s ostensibly about the band recording Build A Rocket Boys, their latest album, which came out a few months ago and is doing pretty well, but is really just about some friends joking around. They start off with a variation on an old Monty Python bit, bragging about how poor they used to be (“My guitar was a piece of cardboard with a lollipop!”), before showing some in-studio stuff, animations, and snatches of music videos. The whole thing is terribly pretty to look at, and listen to, if you like to hear people ramble in Manchester accents. Which, I mean, doesn’t everyone?
Hello Chris,
It was produced by the Soup Collective and aired on Channel Four. x
