El Perro del Mar's Sarah Assbring still sounds plenty sad on "Change of Heart," as she once again pines after someone we're pretty sure she won't get. But she isn't nearly as isolated as she usually sounds on this track. The thump and slide of bass notes and the bright pop of the drums under tumbling guitar notes makes for a livelier background than we're used to from El Perro del Mar. But Assbring doesn't lose any of her emotive pine in this bigger sound. It was always her ghostly voice doing most of the work in her songs, and it doesn't slouch here, as she coos out another beautiful piece of hazy melancholy. The song comes from El Perro del Mar's new mini-album, Love is Not Pop. That disc will be out April 1 in Scandinavia, and the rest of us can only hope the disc makes its way to us soon after. Until then, head over to her MySpace page and check out this great new track. [Pitchfork]
