El-P: "Meanstreak (In 3 Parts)"
Unlike El-P's two previous Megamixxxes, the third installment will be available in retail stores as the earlier ones were limited, tour-only purchases. As such, the third entry is receiving the proper promotional push with this being another leak off the Brooklyn MC/producer's instrumental project, Weareallgoingtoburninhellmegamixxx3. And "Meanstreak (In 3 Parts)" might just be one of the better tracks on the entire project, which I've been lucky enough to sample. As the title indicates, the song is broken into three movements and each is littered with gritty synths and dusty break-beats galore, especially the first section. I'm not sure which part is my favorite, though the second movement is ridiculously catchy and funky.
