Can it be? Could this be the year the Cubs get to the World Series? Will Steve Bartman be able to show his face in Chicago again?
Things are looking up for looking good for the Cubs right now and now they have a song to support their push for the playoffs. Eddie Vedder will be recording a studio version of his Cubs song, "All the Way," that was first performed last year when Ernie Banks called upon his help. Is Ernie Banks a Pearl Jam fan?
Anyways, here is a live version of the track (via JeffVrabel.com) and what Pearl Jam posted about the track on their site.
At the request of Ernie Banks, Eddie threw together a song for the Cubs ("All the Way"). He got a pretty good live version of it at the Auditorium Theatre in Chicago this August. It's now being played on Chicago radio and at the Bleacher Bars around Wrigleyville. We have decided to make the song available for download - you can get it here in the next few days. There's a chance we'll also make available some hard copy CDs and we're looking into souvenir 45 singles, as well. Check back here for the latest.
Go, Cubs, go! [Pearl Jam]

I have always been a huge fan of Pearl Jam. Vedder is brilliant!

You know the hardest thing about being a Cubs fan? Telling your father you're gay.
Go White Sox!
Steve Dave
If you listen to the song closely, you can actually hear the impending collapse.
Southsider
steve and southsider are lovers - hope you burn, like ur horrible sux team, hope their plane crashes
santo
The Cubs get Eddie Vedder and the White Sox get Journey...don't stop believing southsiders, you're almost in the playoffs - Go Twins!
Northsider
Unfortunately the lemming-like behavior of Cubdumb will never completely empty into the sea!
Sox fan Mike
"He dropped the ball"!
Ron Sanstoes
And if you read enough of Sox fans postings on Cubs message boards you can almost smell the jealousy reeking from their words.
You have a team, go cheer for them instead of hating something you'll never understand.
SouthSideStench
Looks like the Cubs vs. White Sox war has finally hit the comments of this post!
Eddie Vedder vs. Journey....hmmmm, I'll take Eddie Vedder. And unlike Journey, Eddie can still sound half way decent live, Go Cubs Go. Sox fans keep saying that we are hating on them....while actually they are hating on us for saying that.
screwdagoat
That's right, we'll never understand what it's like to win a World Series. Duh! Sniff that Stenchie.
Look, being a Cub fan is explained as simply as why society flock to tattoo parlors, wear their pants so far down their hips you can see their underwear and still think Eddie Vedder is relevant.
Sox fan Mike
Hows did I evers lets da ball goes throughs mah leggins?
Leon Durham
I hate Steve Bartman. If I ever see him in the men's room I will p*ss on him!
Moisture Alou
My hatred of Cubs fans and the Cubs is unrelated to my love of the White Sox. Anybody who's spent more than 30 seconds with a Cub fan will have to put up with the exclusive attitude. My grandfather brought me to Baseball games, too. You're not the only team with history and heritage.
And in response to people saying Sox fans are just responding to Cubs hatred of them, nope. I hate them anyway, and put no value in their opinions. I guess I can't defend the accusation that we're just jealous, except with this: jealous of what, exactly?
McCuddy
mccuddy, soxfamike, etc...why, when your team is in the playoff race, are you wasting your time posting messages about a cubs song? Mind your own business, get back to your great, historical team and leave cubs fans alone. enjoy your own success you immature idiots.
jealousmuch
Can anyone remind me when the Cubs won in a little old thing called the World Series? Hears to another 100 years of losing on the northside.
my poop is green
How do you know your girlfriend is a sox fan?
Your pee burns.
Cubs Cubs cubs
How do you know your girlfriend is a Cubs fan? She has a penis.
Sox Sox Sox
Screw Journey and screw the southside jackasses ! Back to Back pennents and a relaxing final few weeks of this great season await us. Enjoy your mediocre season as it ends with a Twins sweep maybe if you had a few more smart players like Quinten your misery would have been over a month ago.
Please just Shut Up
Bleed Cubbie Blue
Great song, would have loved to see it live :) If the Cubbies keep it up, we'll be celebrating soon.
No one who cares about baseball cares about the White Sox.
GO CUBS GO

It's hard to be a terrorist these days.
Everytime you go around trying to blow up something with a bit of C4, they point you out and yell, "GO SOX!" and "DIS-CO-DEMO-LITION" while making little match-striking gestures, whooping and hollering all about.
It's really hard to be a terrorist these days, I swear.
APARTHEID
These comments were supposed to be about a great song by Eddie Vedder, and what it means to a Cubs fan, but of course Sux fans had to worry about what is going on the Northside, like usual.
The Sux may have been #1 in the World in '05, but will always be #2 in Chicago.
No tradition, no originality outside of bring your dog to the ball mall day.
Cub songs are original and a little tougher to sing than "Na Na Na Na, hey hey hey, good bye" and stealing a mediocre Journey song.
Sox fans will always be jealous of whatever happens on the Northside, period.
Good luck with the Twins and Go Cubs!!!
Cubs: Forever #1 in Chicago
I moved to Tucson Az several years ago. Born an raised on the Southside o Chitown. Been to many Sox & Cubs Games. Loved every one. Old Comiskey to New comiskey to whatever it its called now. The closed confines of Wrigley in the spring pre-ivy chatting with pithchers warming up, to 90degrees 100%humidity lush ivy covered walls cold drink in hand. I truely miss it. With all of the angst between our beloved teams when it comes down to it, Chicago Baseball fans are the BEST fans in the USA. As of today the CUBS are playing in the post season. Go Cubs!!! So maybe the Sox get there and when The Sox play the Cubs in the world sreies...Thanks Go Chicago!
Chicago sports fan in AZ
love the new song. south siders just don't understand. if they did they wouldnt be sox fans. go cubbies
my dogs names are wrigley and cubby bear
Sox fans act like they're a dynasty like they're the frikin Yankees. You won one World Series and it'll probably be at least 60 years till you win another. GO TWINS !!!!
Terri
Wow, I can't believe Sox fans waste their time searching out cubs stuff so they can say stupid things about it. But the thing is fans from all teams, including the cubs, do it and it's retarded. Can't people just worry about their own team?
Great song. Does anyone know where to download it besides the pearl jam website? It doesn't work for me on there.
chill
get all the cubs songs at http://www.cubsfans.com
joe cubbie bear
Eddie Vedder is the biggest sale out!!!! When Pearl Jam first came out they were all about being against the system and not comforming. What a joke! What a freaking sale out!!!! Nothing against the Cubs but come on, was this kind of publicity really needed??
Disgusted
As a Sox fan, I will admit that this song is good for what it is. And the obsessive back-and-forth between Sox and Cubs fans is just ridiculous. And I'm almost not totally annoyed by Eddie's dis of the Sox at the end of this MP3 -- mostly because it's actually a funny line. But...
Don't dis Captain Stubby and the Buccaneers!!!
"Let's Go Go-Go White Sox" is a JAM.
Let's Go Go-Go White Sox...... Chicago's proud of youuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu!
uhhhhh
First of all, its 'sell out' not 'sale out' you moron. Secondly, Eddie is not trying to conform to anything. He is a true fan and is expressing himself the best way he can. Me, I can't write or sing, so I'll shave my head and paint my body.
Re:Disgusted
He was asked by Ernie Banks to write that song..... SUX got Journey and it wasn't even an original song. I agree that Sux have history, hell the city is filled with history... but there is something about Wrigleyfield and the cubs that are legendary. You can't and won't get that at a sux game. I was raised by the Cubs and I will die by the Cubs..... These guys are my HEROES!!!! I love this song and it brings tears to my eyes all of the memories of my grandpa taking me to games as a kid (yes I'm a girl) and telling me the story of the Cubs. I plan on taking my son to games and telling him the story of the Cubs.
CubbyGirl
sox fans why are you so focused on seeing that the cubs are losing, you have bigger things to worry about at this point. it isnt Eddie Vedder vs. journey who is better. the fact is that Eddie Vedder wrote the song specifically for the cubs, the Sox just stole an old journey song and called it theirs. quit wasting your time reverting back to 2005, live in the now. what is is and what was was. just because you won the world series 3 years ago doesnt mean you have the better team. it just means you had the better team for that year
go cubs go
You know the hardest thing about being a Sox fan? Telling your parole officer you were at U.S. Cellular Field breaking in to cars for $20 to get into the NOT-sold-out game that evening.
Go Cubs Go!
True Blue Cubbie
hey just cuz wrigley has been ther over 100 years and fag town cam dont make cubs fans fags u tard
Cubs
After tonite's loss, I'm gonna have to hit the blow up doll in the locker room while Jay Mariotti take me from behind!
Fozzie Gayen
Funny how they say Eddie Vedder is no longer relevant yet Journey is. This song is so much better than "Don't Stop Believin'".
Charlie
GO TWINKIES!!!!
