“East Harlem”

Zach Condon and his buddies in Beirut aren’t doing anything too new on “East Harlem,” the latest single from the Sante Fe band. There are affable melodies, ornate orchestrations, and jaunty rhythms like the best the band has to offer. It’s good to hear new material from a band whose last full-length was 2007’s The Flying Cup Club, and “East Harlem” satisfies your Beirut urges with jangly guitars, some playful horns and Condon’s understated vocals. The “East Harlem” single, which features the track “Goshen” as a b-side, dropped today on Condon’s own Pompeii label.
