Thank goodness for Dum Dum Girls. In an era – however fleeting, as these indie rock moments tend to be – when the directive for so many bands seems to be simply to update the K Records catalog, she (don’t let the plural name fool you) has chosen to do so much more. Dum Dum Girls' output might be described as a gleefully charming breed of slapdash guitar pop, with dreamy, woozy vocals swirling beneath the noisy surface. It’s all a bit delicious, this sort of lolli-punk, and frankly, catchy as all hell. Now, she offers visuals to accompany these sonic delights, in the form of music videos that play like home videos from bygone days. Gorilla vs. Bear has been kind enough to round up two of these pithy films, one for the song Blank Girl (featuring vocals contributed by Brandon Welchez from the band Crocodiles) and the other for Catholicked. The former is above, and the latter can be found below.
this is great
Wow. She should tour with The Pains of Being Pure At Heart, and my heart can just finally explode from all of the preciousness. heh
Pretty good stuff.
That would be an awesome pairing of a show, this is good fuzzy stuff.
