If you're one of those newfangled, lo-fiish bands that so many kids are up in arms about and you want to do a pop cover that doesn't smack of boring, self-conscious irony, then the 60's is where you oughta be headed. Dum Dum Girls clearly know that, and that's why this weekend at Seattle's Chop Suey they covered the Ronnettes' "Be My Baby," a song that only walking, talking husks don't like. A solid effort, though their version could've definitely used some non-chorus harmonies.
