Ducktails: "Art Vandelay"
It feels wrong for something that's so obviously a Seinfeld reference to sound so heartbreakingly earnest. Ducktails, the solo project of New Jersey's Matt Mondanile, will be putting out a 7-inch on Olde English Spelling Bee in the near future, for which the track "Art Vandelay" will be the B-side. Riding a guitar riff that's powerful in its simplicity, with a vocal line that deftly weaves through the lightly phased acoustic rhythm guitars, "Vandelay" is one of those tracks that you find yourself humming at random moments during the day, pleasantly stuck to the back of your brain stem. A reworked version will be seeing bigger release as part of Ducktails III: Arcade Dynamics, which will be coming out soon on Woodsist. Grab the track here. [GvB]
