Duchess Says: Ccutup (MP3)

“Ccutup” by Montreal-based Duchess Says merges the gap between Be Your Own Pet, X Ray Spex, and Rush (check the first 30 seconds or so of this MP3, doesn’t it sound like “Tom Sawyer”?) in a never-relenting sonic bludgeoning.

The band cut their chops playing around Montreal for the last couple of years, where they’ve got acclaim for their wild live shows, before signing to indie label Alien8 for the release of their debut album Anthologie des 3 Perchoirs. My years of intense French studying (none) lead me to believe that the title is French for “Anthology of three something.”
