Mainstream's hip-hop's full-on embrace of materialism is one of those things that no one's ever needed to explain or apologize for, but here comes Drake and Trey Songz to sort of do that anyway. The sound and content of "Successful" makes Drake and Trey Songz's desire for "the money, the money and the hos/ the cars and the clothes," sound like the earnest, modest desire of a couple of young men just trying to make their way in the world, which it uh, is not. Also, standing amidst skyscrapers with hot chicks in the background, both Drake and Songz look like they're doing pretty well already.
