Drake: "Light Up" (MP3) f. Jay-Z

May 30 Update: Here's what is likely to be the last Thank Me Later track to leak to the 'net before the whole thing ends up on torrent sites everywhere. And those of you looking for that track to get you excited for Drake's debut, here it is. Drake essentially spazzes out on his opening verse, even if that "I'm a star/no Spangled Banner" line kind of hurt my head. But let's be honest, he -- and the rest of the Young Money crew -- loves spitting those corny lines. And they are delivered with enough style and swagger that you're more interested in what he's spitting next than getting stuck on one lousy punch line anyway.

The thing about "Light Up" is that it really could have been just fine as a Drake-only cut. But halfway in, Jay-Z comes in and, well, completely steals the show. His takeover (no pun) of the track is on the level of when Eminem stepped up and destroyed Jay's "Renegade" on The Blueprint. Except this time around it's Jay who is blacking out on the track and spitting the most memorable bars. And here's hoping we get more collaborations from Drake and Jay, as they have clearly shown here that they complement each other well.

Thank Me Later drops June 15. You can stream "Light Up" below.

Dec. 10 Update: In the video below Drake discusses having Jay-Z to guest on "Light Up," a track of his upcoming album Thank Me Later. The track was produced by Tone Mason.

What bothers me is that people talking people gettting bodied on their own song when it's not even one of those type of songs, you are supposed to hold your own when you are on a track with other great lyricist, that's hip-hop, doesn't mean you got bodied. I related to Jay on renegade because I a from the world he spoke about, I respect Drake because he held his and brought his best onw this track, while Jay-Z did what the greats do he gave some lessons to Drake to help him in this shady hip-hop game.
