While you were day-drinking, Drake released three new songs on his blog yesterday afternoon. “Free Spirit,” the second track and the one Drizzy played for Rolling Stone back in July, is the silkiest of the lot. On it, a blurry saxophone weaves between Drake and Rick Ross’ verses and Ross brings a refreshed plea for ladies to tattoo his name onto them, which Drake echos in the song’s refrain. Aside from the Bernard Herrmann-tempered sax, the song’s highlights are Rick Ross’ restrained verse (he only spouts one real “Woof” here) and Drake’s brisk tempo which aren’t elements that the pair are known for but prove they can do equally well.
Stream the track below, which may or may not be off of Drake’s upcoming Take Care.
