That near-riot at South Street Seaport for Drake’s recent non-appearance in New York City seems ever more inexplicable. Take this appearance on Jay Leno’s show last night (June 23), for example. Does this really sound like the kind of music that could insight a crowd to break stuff and generally act like they were watching Limp Bizkit at Woodstock circa 1999?
But while his fans lose their minds, Drake just focuses on what he does best, and “Find Your Love” is one of the best slow-burning songs of the year—just try getting the 808s & Heartbreak production and hooky vocal out of your head after a few plays and you will be fighting a losing battle. And with sales of Thanks Me Later looking more and more impressive, this is most definitely Drake’s year, riot or no riot.
