The new album by Dr. Dog, Be The Void, is released next week, with the band working up another set of excellently crafted rock songs. This is a group that has quietly increased its reputation as the years have passed—Be The Void is the Dr. Dog's sixth full-length release—by combining elements of classic rock (The Band, Van Morrison) with touches of psychedelia. “That Old Black Hole” is an efficiently cut song, featuring rousing sing-along passages, whimsical organ flourishes and a straight-up commitment to plowing a hard rock edge through their sound.
