Here's a banger worth hearing from Corporate Thugs Entertainment's newest addition, Doughboyz Cashout. It's their first single as signed arists and features Yo Gotti and CTE's CEO, Y. Jeezy. These guys are out of Detroit, and there's a gothic weightiness to "Cash Out" that is reminiscent of music of that region both in terms of production and drug-money-centric subject matter. However, it's overlaid on an appealing step-clap backbeat which evokes late '90s/early '00s Bay Area gangsta rap. Of course, to make the track even more pan-American, it features two of the South's biggest stars. The net result of these apparent contradictions is appealing club-friendly gangsta rap that sounds fresh while adopting some curious influences from the not-too-distant past. Listen to this and some other Doughboyz Cashout tracks and note the gift these guys have for hook writing.
