Pitchfork.tv’s impressive run of live recordings continues with the addition of a set from Dave Longstreth and his Dirty Projectors. The stripped-down performance takes place in a dimly lit Brooklyn apartment, with Dave singing and thrumming away at a guitar while Amber Coffman and Angel Deradoorian provide backing vocals and occasional finger snaps. The jittery Longstreth perspires and looks pretty unhealthy throughout. Perhaps the mammoth Rise Above tour schedule is taking its toll? Or does he just need a good meal and a few weeks in the sun? In contrast, Amber and Angel seem like a picture of health as they supply the note-perfect harmonies that make seeing the Projectors such an edifying experience. Here’s “Thirsty and Miserable” from the session.
