More than those of any other band working today probably, Dirty Projectors' performances seem to recall watching the guts of some fabulous and foreign machine at work. There's something about the band's apparent professionalism and patience that seems a little bit inhuman. also, I love watching Coffman, Deradoorian and Dekle harmonize during live performances,, watching the individual parts combine to a fabulous machine is a great analogy..
