The excellent Daytrotter sessions may not (yet) have gained as much notoriety as the much-loved John Peel Sessions, but they’re certainly building up a great archive of exclusive performances. Dinosaur Jr. have recorded a career spanning set for Daytrotter, which is currently streaming on their website, and is prefaced by a goofy introduction.

The songs include “Severed Lips” and “Repulsion” from the band’s debut album, which still sound remarkably fresh despite being (gasp!) 24 years old. Mascis’ noodling in “Repulsion” is still one of the most blissed-out pieces of guitar playing you’ll ever hear.

Curiously, there’s nothing from the band's new album, Farm, in the session. Instead, “Crumble” and the Lou Barlow penned “Back to Your Heart” from Beyond conclude the set. All four tracks are available to stream or download on the Daytrotter website.
