Devendra Banhart: "Forget About Him" (Kath Bloom Cover)

On March 14th, Chapter Music will release Loving Takes This Course: A Tribute to the Songs of Kath Bloom. It's a two-disc set, with one CD of Kath Bloom's originals and another dedicated to covers by people like Mark Kozelek, the Dodos, and Bill Callahan. One of the highlights of the release is this cover by Devendra Banhart, ever the source for rare folk gems. Banhart's version of "Forget About Him" replaces the original's romantic loneliness for a more uptempo whimsical approach. This is slightly grating at first, but the joyous ooh's and ah's make for a satisfyingly absurd accompaniment by the end of the song.
