Devendra Banhart played a packed show in San Francisco last week, and in addition to playing the old standards, he played a pair of new tracks, "Baby" and "Chin Chin & Muck Muck." "Chin Chin" (below) is the kind of jokey and goofy track that has held Banhart back in the past; you never know if he's being sincere or if he's just seeing how quirky he can get while still getting people to sing along. "Baby" (above) is considerably more focused; it finds Banhart and company going garage-pop to great effect, forming one of Banhart's better tracks of recent memory.

No word on when these songs will make it to wax (in the case of "Chin Chin" hopefully never), but Banhart is reportedly hard at work in the studio. [Stereogum]
