Dent May's "Meet Me In The Garden" is one of the few tracks on his The Good Feeling Music of Dent May & His Magnificent Ukelelethat doesn't slip into reductive, moderately humorous pastiche, but the song's video takes that vibe from the rest of the album and translates it into a visual form. In the clip May dances with the girl who keeps asking to meet him in the garden, he smokes a pipe, chills in a bubble bath, sips champagne, and acts generally hokey.
I couldn't see May doing anything else, but this video will frimly place him in the "this is all a joke" category, which works to some regard, but will prevent people from taking any of this seriously. Which is maybe the point. [Pitchfork]
