Unlike “The Tears and Music of Love,” “Offend Maggie” is a relatively tender side of Deerhoof. The song begins with dueling acoustic guitars, before segueing into a “1,2,3,4” chorus. The song is much shorter than “The Tears” (it clocks in at just over two minutes), and has a lot in common with some of the lighter tracks on Friend Opportunity.
