This video for Deerhoof's "Buck and Judy" is taken from a Washington, D.C. performance from last October. The song, off the excellent Offend Maggie, translates well to a live setting as the chopped-up track gets just a little murkier on stage. Satomi Matsuzaki looks almost ghostly standing there keening while the band shreds behind her, and the contrast between the crunchy guitars and her unassuming voice is even starker live than on record. But if those nuances don't pull you in, watching Greg Saunier pound on the drums is worth viewing all on its own.
