Death Cab for Cutie's strong online push behind their upcoming Keys and Codes Remix EP continues today with a reworking of album highlight "Home is a Fire." Whereas previous remixes have come via Cut Copy, the 2 Bears, and RAC Maury, this time it's German shoegaze/electronic musician Ulrich Schnauss who's at the helm.
He's right at home with the source material of Ben Gibbard and company, as Schnauss maintains the rapid pace of "Home is a Fire." He has upped the energy level, though, by prominently featuring the percussion attack, which is buried beneath the vocals on the original. Gibbard's crooning remains a focal point, but it's now a burning complement to the drums and bright bursts of electronics. You can stream the remix below. The remix EP drops Nov. 22.
