Until today, I thought that Death Cab for Cutie's "Grapevine Fires" (from their so-so latest album, Narrow Stairs) was a metaphor for a relationship burning down--apparently it is actually about California wildfires, as this video proves. The animated and tragic video for the song follows a boy around as he investigates fires burning down his neighborhood and tries to find his brother while Ben Gibbard whines over the top of everything.
Narrow Stairs is out now via Atlantic. [Pitchfork]
