“Dearest” (Buddy Holly Cover)

In late June, Rave On Buddy Holly, a Buddy Holly tribute album will see release, and a ton of indie-friendly acts are involved, from Julian Casablancas, Fiona Apple, Karen Elson, Detroit Cobras, Modest Mouse, She & Him, Lou Reed and, uh, Kid Rock. But for the purposes of this post, the only act you’re interested in is the Black Keys, who take on “Dearest,” a slow-burning plea for love that the Keys deliver in earnest fashion. Just like the original. Rave On Buddy Holly is due out on June 28. [Pitchfork
