As more tracks leak out from actor Ryan Gosling's new band, Dead Man's Bones, it's becoming more and more apparent that he's resting his sound on a handful of tricks. That children's choir, for instance, pops up once again on "My Body's a Zombie For You," the latest track made available from these guys. And like the songs to come before it, this one has an eerie creakiness to it. But the formula is still working for them, since on this song they take their spare pieces and build something a little grander. Drums thunder, those kids shout loud enough to give you a chill, and there's a soft doo-wop shuffle that sands down those harsh elements into something beautiful. Who knows how much longer they can stretch these same sounds into something interesting, but hell, with another strong offering here, it's so far, so good for these guys.
