The second video of Okkervil River’s Stand Ins series has been posted to the band’s YouTube page, and it features singer songwriter David Vandervelde performing Okkervil’s, um, well, “Singer Songwriter.” The song takes on the same emotional weight as Will Sheff and Carl Newman’s take of “Lost Coastlines,” and if it weren’t for the fact that you know it’s a cover, you’d think that Vandervelde wrote the song himself as he gives a wonderful, heart-felt performance.
