David Bazan, the brain behind Pedro the Lion, recently performed on Radio Happy Hour and covered Vic Chesnutt's excellent "Flirted With You All My Life." While Bazan does a great job of interpreting Chesnutt's lyrics and it's good to see that his work will live on in the performances of other artists, it is pretty jarring to hear the song's deeply personal and idiosyncratic lyrics delivered in another voice. It's almost impossible to think when Bazan sings lyrics about "his grandma," that it's not really his grandma. R.I.P. Vic.
good cover though
