Kentucky singer-songwriter Daniel Martin Moore has built his music career on being modest, so the video for the title track to his new album, In the Cool of the Day, should be no different. Moore was signed by Sub Pop purely on the back of an unsolicited demo tape he sent the label in 2007, and he here uses just a piano and his voice to give a plaintive, sobering take on the old gospel tune, "In the Cool of the Day." The video's about as simple as the cover: one camera, one take, black and white. Anything else would be garish.
In the Cool of the Day is out now on Sub Pop. Daniel Martin Moore will be on tour in March and April; dates on his website.
