"Freedom" (MP3) and New Album/Tour Details
There’s a new Daniel Johnston album, titled Is And Always Was, due for release, on Oct. 6. He has released the song “Freedom” as a teaser for the record, which highlights the surprisingly slick production values Johnston has been dabbling in on the album. Beck/Air producer Jason Falkner worked on Is And Always Was.
The album will be released on the Eternal Yip Eye Music label and a September/October tour will be undertaken to promote the record. “Freedom” is a typically great Johnston track, full of thoughtful lyrics and fuzzy punked-up guitars, and it even sounds like he’s going to collapse into giggles midway through the song.
