The folks behind Daytrotter have once again procured another high quality session for their vaults, this time luring Daniel Johnston into their studio to deliver a bunch of songs. Johnston must have been enjoying his time at Daytrotter, as he delivered a seven-song set for the site.
Most of these tracks are taken from his latest album, Is and Always Was, and Johnston is backed by a full band for this session. These versions are faithful to the recorded incarnations of the songs, with the highlight being the country-ish “Freedom,” which Daytrotter accurately describes as “one of his most poignant and revealing, not to mention best songs of his career.”
You can listen to (and/or download) the session here.
