The collaboration between Danger Mouse, Mark Linkous of Sparklehorse and director David Lynch looks set to be one of the most intriguing releases of 2009. As previously reported, the project is named Dark Night of the Soul, and is set to feature contributions from the Flaming Lips, Black Francis, Iggy Pop and Julian Casablancas.
Little is known about the content of the venture, but a YouTube channel for Dark Night of the Soul has been set up, and contains a typically oblique, and very Lynchian, clip. Not much is revealed during the 16 seconds it takes for the video to unfold: a hand holding a plastic toy sheep, a revolver, and a still shot of a horse with (possibly) Danger Mouse himself in the background. What could it all mean? Hopefully we will find out sooner rather than later.
