Damian Marley, Nas: "Africa Must Wake Up" f. K'naan
The past 24 hours or so have been Damian Marley and Nas-centric, at least in the hip-hop blogosphere. The duo's video for "As We Enter" finally hit the 'net yesterday afternoon. Then, last night, another leak from Distant Relatives appeared in the form of "Africa Must Wake Up." Also, word has it a certain site is premiering an interview with the reggae-rap connection at some point today. Getting back to the leak, though, it finds the duo teaming up with like-minded (at least for this project) artist K'naan for a more rock-oriented and introspective jam. Nas dominates most of the verses as Marley handles the hook over violins, piano, and, at one point, a squealing guitar for what plays like quite the appropriate way to close Distant Relatives, which drops May 18.
