I vaguely remember a thing on VH1 a few years ago where the egotrip dudes discussed who had hood passes, as in who could come to the hood and not get got. I remember Cuba Gooding Jr. was given a pass for Boyz in the Hood, but he was one the verge of losing it. Apparently Dam-Funk saw that special as well, singing "Hood Pass Intact," a song about not losing too much of your hood flavor in case you might need to go back to hood for something. It's kind of a different look for Dam-Funk, who until this point has mostly been known for doing songs about boning. But he's just as much a preacher here as he is when he's telling how to do your lady right. Listen at Pitchfork.
Dam-Funk's Hood Pass Intact EP is due out later this summer.
