"Rifle Eyesight (Proper Name)" is the opening track from Cymbals Eat Guitars' upcoming sophomore album Lenses Alien, and it practically spits ambition through your speakers. Clocking in at over eight minutes, the song punches and lurches its way through several sections. There's the jumpy intro part, which segues into the gauzy shoegaze section, which leads into the free-noise jam, which makes a left-turn into absurdly catchy indie-pop, which slogs into a piano-led dirge before finally erupting into a grunge-worthy tantrum/guitar freakout. If that all sounds exhausting to you, well, it is, but in a very satisfying way. Give it a listen below.
