Cut Copy: "Need You Now (Architecture In Helsinki Version)"
Architecture in Helsinki traffic in weirdo pop, and their Australian contemporaries in Cut Copy traffic in weirdo dance, so it makes sense for the two to pair up on the first of three "reimaginings" of tracks from Cut Copy's recently released album Zonoscope. The Architecture in Helsinki version of "Need You Now" takes the half-pace electro bop of the original and completely replaces it with a "Sleep Walk"-style arpeggios, and the song becomes a classic pop rock track because of it. It's a rather inspired new take on the song, playing up the Roy Orbison inherent in Cut Copy singer Dan Whitford's voice. Listen below. [130bpm]
