Well, that was quick. Just a day after we reported that The Cure's Robert Smith would appear on the single version of Crystal Castles' cover of Platinum Blonde's "Not In Love," the track has hit the internet. Prefix's Nick Neyland predicted yesterday that the collision of Smith and Alice Glass' highly processed vocals would make for an interesting combination, but really, it's completely Smith's show here. Glass turns up for the bridge, but the verses and chorus are all dominated by Smith. If Crystal Castles wasn't listed as the artist, I would be quick to declare this the best Cure song in over a decade--another one of Smith's more electronic excursions that would fit great on an updated version of Japanese Whispers. Instead, I just have to call it a great single. I guess that will do. Give it a listen below.
Crystal Castles is available now. The "Not In Love" single is due out Dec. 6, and once again, includes acoustic versions of "Celestica" and "Suffocation."
