Crystal Castles: "Baptism" (Video)

· by

Crystal Castles have pulled another track from their eponymously titled second album to push it back into the spotlight again, this time choosing to give airtime to “Baptism.” This is a fairly typical Crystal Castles track, with Alice Glass yelping over clean Depeche Mode-style synths that have been mashed up with distorted noise and a clear affinity for contemporary pop structure.

The video is yet another return to the ‘80s, with the band performing over what looks like primitive blue screen technology, but is likely to have been assembled on something far more modern. Ho hum. Another week, another video indebted to that decade. Perhaps the slew of ‘90s bands reforming has made it impossible for current bands to step into that decade and start aping the various styles?
