Cool Calm Pete: "Offline"
The latest tune from Cool Calm Pete isn't actually "new," per se, as the rapper-producer posted the track on his MySpace some time ago. But he's brought the absolutely killer "Offline" back as a single, which we hope means he also has a new album dropping soon.
Speculation aside, Pete blacks out for nearly two and a half minutes with that laid-back, chill flow of his as he paints a picture of the time we're currently living in. While other rappers have tried doing this before, few do it quite as well as Pete. It doesn't hurt, of course, that he's backed by Pre, who previously worked with the MC as part of Babbletron. His production is built on a low-lying manipulated vocal sample that serves as the canvas for building synthesizers, live drums, and hand claps.
