You have to hand this to Cold War Kids; of all the buzz bands to go pop in 2006, they've definitely put out the most albums. Their fourth LP, Mine Is Yours, is due out on Jan. 25, and they've got a new single and video out. "Louder Than Ever" is very Cold War Kids, with the Tom Waits-esque breakdowns, the mixing of rock forms, and this video is vintage CWK too: It's all about a model having to face looking not attractive until she struts on the runway. What is this supposed to mean? Who the hell knows? But still, who could have picked these dudes as the last band standing of 2006? Tapes n Tapes went back to being uber-indie and Birdmonster and Clap Your Hands Say Yeah don't really exist anymore.
