I don't know if this happens on the coasts, but scavenger hunts are hugely popular amongst teens in the midwest. I remember hurtling towards some strip mall in a '87 Chrysler LeBaron looking for a picture with a Radio Shack employee, or some other stupid shit. And always having a near-death experience every time. A scavenger hunt, complete with a living cart, is the central plot of the video for Cloud Nothings' "Nothing's Wrong," a power-pop song that comes with a cart-delivered beat down. It's a goofy clip that takes a weird turn at the end, but it'll make you think of your own days finding batteries in someone's house. [P4K]
