While the ebullient, lo-fi indie pop trend has over-stayed its welcome for some, there is always room for well-crafted, catchy tunes, regardless of their recording quality. While the vocals for "Hey Cool Kid" can be a little off at times, the playful guitar work and simple but effective song craft go a long ways towards making this gem from Cloud Nothings instantly replayable. Nope, I dig it. Note to self: Cloud Nothings.
i'm liking the resurgence of lo-fi indie pop
I am, too. It just feels like the trend as a whole is about ready for the backlash that some of the sound's bigger groups, like Vivian Girls and Wavves, have started to see.
