The video for Cleveland's Cloud Nothings' "Hey Cool Kid" is like a nerd's wet dream, where he turns a dude into a basketball shot making monster who is capable of ridonkulous zone defense. It's perfectly fitting for a song about trying to get a cool kid to notice you, and it sort of seems to work out in the end; over the garage rock melodrama of the song, the nerd starts a confetti explosion and melts a scoreboard. That's what all nerd want in the end, isn't it? Confetti and the destruction of a gymnasium?
Cloud Nothings' Carpark debut, Turning On, is due out on Oct. 12.
