“Christmas In Harlem” f. CyHi Da Prynce & Teyana Taylor

Usually, Christmas songs by big artists end up being dicey affairs, sounding like they were recorded to fulfill some sort of contractual obligation or just to break into the holiday music market. Kanye West’s “Christmas In Harlem” thankfully falls into neither of those categories, stands just as high in quality as most of the tracks on My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy, and also makes me miss getting free Kanye tracks every week courtesy of his G.O.O.D. Fridays series.

The track features G.O.O.D. up-and-comer CyHi Da Prynce, who delivers a very Santa-centric verse, and Teyana Taylor on hook duties. Kanye kills his first verse, offering a portrait of the holidays that is just as much about hectic shopping days and scraping ice off of windshields as it is about enjoying being with the ones you love and exchanging gifts that are inappropriate for children (there’s a certain reference to “hot chocolate” I’m referring to). According to Kanye himself, another version of the song will be released soon that features verses by Cam’ron, Vado, Jim Jones, Pusha T, Big Sean, and Musiq Soulchild, in addition to Taylor and CyHi. Give it a listen below.

As if you have not been bombarded with the information enough, My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy is available now.
