Ladytron, La Tigre and M.I.A. are just a few of the artists who are rumored to be involved in the new Christina Aguilera album, Bionic, which is her fairly transparent attempt to catch up with and capitalize on the phenomenon that is Lady Gaga. This video for “Not Myself Tonight” pretty much confirms that Aguilera and her people have watched a few Gaga videos and simply thought: “we can do that too.”
For all the hype, build up and expectation, this is a fairly unremarkable song from Aguilera, and if it’s an indication of Bionic’s direction, it’s going to be pretty difficult to figure out exactly what her famous collaborators brought to the table. Aguilera might justifiably bristle at the Gaga comparisons considering how long she was doing this stuff before being so rudely usurped, but she just doesn’t have the wit or vision or even the ear for a memorable tune that Gaga so clearly possesses.
Remember it was widely thought that iamamiwhoami was Christina Aguilera? Watching this video, that seems wholly laughable.
All those amazing collaborators and still this boring music. Aguilera is truly the less authentic singer (I wouldn't say creator or artist) there is on the planet. She's doing what everybody else did before including Spears and Lady Gaga. On top of that, she's ripping off Madonna (see «Express Yourself», «Human Nature» and «Like a Prayer» videos).

^^^ And both Britney and Gaga are ripping off the artists that came before them as well. In fact you could say Gaga also borrowed elements of Britney and Christina in image. Look, bottom line, this new song and video of Christina's sucks, there's no doubt about that. But let's not start treating Gaga like she's a goddess of some sorts. Her "wit, vision and ear for a memorable tune" is something her producers mostly possess, not her. Before she got signed, she was just another indie artist with no interest in pop music struggling to make it. Then when she got with Rob Fusari, he basically molded her to be what she is today. She is a product. And yeah, yeah, yeah, spare me the lecture about how she's a classically trained pianist who writes her own tunes and whatnot, I know all about that. I also know that she's not as genuine as everyone makes her out to be. This Gaga hype NEEDS to die down. There is no artist more overrated than she is right now.
Also, let's remember that Christina did give us albums like "Stripped" and "Back To Basics", so let's not write her off just yet. I don't think anyone even gave Britney such a rough time for her past two albums, which have been her worst. And she has no talent.
